A Khlebnikov goldwashed, enameled, jeweled, and enamel painting mounted silver casket, Moscow, 1908-17, with Imperial warrant mark, rectangular, with side lifting handles, the hinged lid with sloping sides, and mounted to center with a miniature painting on enamel after the work A Boyar Wedding Feast by the painter Konstantin Makovsky, The piece boasts green and red cabochon-jeweled borders, opaque green sugarloaf jewels in the corners and allover cloisonné enameling of scrolling vines. Its goldwashed interior is engraved with the previous owner’s monogram, “EKB,” and dated 1913. A Boyar wedding feast painted in 1883 by Konstantin Makovsky (1839-1915) is preserved in the collection of Hillwood Museum, Washington DC.
